  • Happy Easter Jollibobs everyone!!

    Fri 11 Apr 2025

    A quick summary of this week: - 

     

    We raised a staggering £248 from our Easter Raffle and Tombola.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to this amount 🙂 

     

    • Year 4 had an amazing time at Camp and have certainly tried out lots of different activities and become much more independent - well done to you all.  A special thank you to Mr Atkinson and Mrs Barlow for supervising the children over the 3 days 🙂 

     

    • Reception enjoyed Progressive Sports this week and continued to develop their Archery skills 

     

    • Year 3 had a lovely sunny day over at Forest Schools enhancing their stone age topic with jewellery made out of salt dough, making paint out of pigment and identifying plants and leaf rubbing 🙂 A super busy day had by all!! 

     

    • We had many sporting events after school this week - please see the separate facebook post with further details and pictures 🙂 Thanks to Miss Young and Mr Davies for organising and supporting.  Also, our parent volunteers. 

     

    • Thanks to everyone who attend Parents Evening, we hope you found the information provided useful and will add any home learning

     

    Forward planning for the first week back after the Easter Break: - 

     

    • Progressive Sports will be the turn of Year 4 on Tuesday afternoon.  Children can come to school in their PE kits on this day 

     

    • Forest Schools will be the turn of Year 1 on Thursday 1st May 2025.  Children can come to school in their old clothes and must bring a change of sturdy footwear. 

     

     

    Have a super fun filled Easter, hopefully this lovely weather will continue through the break. 

     

    Children return to school on Monday 28th April 2025.  

     

    A polite reminder, we have an open-door policy, so please do speak to any member of staff with any issues or questions, rather than putting on Social Media or in a Class What's App Group in the first instance!!  As not everything you read on-line is always accurate 🙂

  • Another very busy week!!

    Many thanks to everyone who came along to watch our KS2 Spring Production 🙂 It was lovely to see our KS2 on stage and I'm sure you will agree, they were fantastic. 

    A big 'shout out' to all of our KS2 team who have worked hard with the children over the last few weeks to ensure they were 'production' ready. 

    Also thank you to both of our 'pot of gold' winners, who very kindly donated their winnings back to school - you are amazing 

     

    • Year 3 had a great time on Tuesday afternoon with Progressive Sports

     

    • Year 4 enjoyed their time over at Forest Schools on Thursday - the weather was amazing for them as well 

     

    • Year 1 and 2 had the best time at Peak Wildlife.  They saw so many different animals and the weather was amazing 🙂 Thanks to any parent volunteers who supported us and helped out during the day - we hope you enjoyed yourselves as well 

     

    • We finished the week with a non-uniform day in exchange for chocolate.  A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our chocolate tombola.  Miss Young and School Council will be sending more details out about this early next week 🙂 

     

    So only 5 more get ups!!  🙂 

     

    • Easter Bonnet Competition this week, also raffle tickets on sale for Easter Treats 🐣🐣 see separate Facebook post for more details 

     

    • Year 4 at Camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - a separate letter has been issued with details of drop off and collection 
    • Those children not going to camp need to line up with Year 3 on the playground at the beginning of the school day 👍

     

    • Reception have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can come to school in their PE Kits for the day 

     

    • Year 1 and Year 5 Parents Evening on Tuesday (appointments have been sent) = all children to be released at the normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    • Various football tournaments after school (separate letters have been sent to those children who are involved in each competition) 

     

    • Year 3 have Forest Schools on Thursday 10th April -children can come to school in their old clothes and need to bring a change of sturdy footwear 

     

    • EYFS Easter Bingo on Thursday 10th April - a separate letter giving more details has been issued 

     

    • Parents Evening for Nursery, Reception, Year 2, 3, 4 and 6 on Thursday (appointments have been sent) - all children to be released at the normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    We break up for the Easter Break at 3.15pm on Friday 11th April 2025.  Please collect children promptly so we can all sort our Easter Jollibobs 🙂 

     

    We have a few kitchen vacancies coming up in the next few weeks.   Please spread the word.  If anyone is interested, details can be found on our facebook page.  Contact Donna King for an application form.

    Please note: - All After School Clubs have now finished until SUMMER 2.  Green Goblin has also finished.  Please collect all children at normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    • Early Years had the best day at the farm learning about the animals and feeding the lambs!  Thank you to our parent helpers - a fantastic day all round!  Head to your child's class page for more photographs under the events tab 🙂 

     

    • Year 1 had a fun afternoon with Progressive Sports 🙂 

     

    • Thanks to those parents who took time out of their very busy day to attend the Year 4 multiplication information session - we hope you found the session useful 

     

    • Year 4 had a great morning with Chef preparing a fruit and vegetable salad.  They learnt the bridge and claw method to cut and slice the food and finished the session tasting their salads 🙂

     

    • Year 5 had an extremely productive day over at Forest Schools enhancing their curriculum learning 

     

    • Our Year 5 and 6 girls had an amazing time at Stafford Manor taking part in the All Girls Festival where they participated in Archery, Bench-ball and Football against Silkmore Primary and Rowley Park Academy.  We are still waiting on the final results and scores.  Miss Young and Mr Davies were extremely impressed by your immense determination and you all did FL proud!! 🙂 

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 

     

    • Year 3 Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can come in their PE kits as normal 

     

    • KS2 Spring Production on Wednesday - please only attend if you have a ticket.  A reminder that no photographs to be taken during the performance as we have children on stage who can't have their photographs taken due to safeguarding or parental choice.  

     

     

    • On Thursday Year 1 and Year 2 have their school trip to PEAK WILDLIFE - a separate letter has been sent with further details of what your child needs for the day 

     

    • Year 4 Forest Schools all day on Thursday - children can come to school in old clothes and bring a change of sturdy footwear 

     

    • We end the week with a NON-UNIFORM DAY on Friday in exchange for chocolate for our Chocolate Tombola 🙂 Football shirts are allowed 🙂

    Please note - DANCE and DRAMA club have now finished.  Please collect children at normal school finish time. 

     

    A big 'thank you' to Mrs Fenton for sourcing a World Book Day book for every single child who attends Flash Ley.  Amazing 🙂 

    Also, a 'shout out' to Mrs Locke and Mrs Hepple who went to collect the books 

    All books were issued to each child this week 🙂

     

    • Year 4 had a successful and productive swimming session on Monday 

     

    • Year 2 continued to master their Archery skills on Tuesday 

     

    • Selected Year 3 & 4 pupils represented our school at the Tag Rugby at Stafford Rugby Club.  A big thank you to Mr Davies and Miss Young for supervising and organising the event 🙂 Also to any parental volunteers - events like this wouldn't happen without your much-needed help 🙂 

    As this event was new to Year 3 and Year 4, it was a festival to enjoy and start to understand the skills and rules of the game.  All children did Flash Ley proud with good listening for the coaches and determination and perseverance towards having a go at the game.  Well done everyone - a very proud HT moment 🙂 

     

    • KS2 enjoyed the MACBETH Performance on Thursday afternoon - if you haven't already paid for this, please do so via Parent Pay.  This performance is the foundation in readiness for SHAKESPEARE WEEK next week.  Watch this space 

     

    • Reception soaked up the sun over at Forest Schools on Thursday - they all had an amazing time 🙂 

     

    • We ended the week celebrating RED NOSE DAY.  Thanks to everyone who donated to this amazing charity.

    • Shakespeare Week 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon

    A big thank you to parents who have taken time out of their busy week to attend either: - 

    parents forum, Year 1 phonics info session and the Year 6 SATS info session.  We hope you found the information shared useful. 

     

    We celebrated Science Week this week and the children loved our Science Fair.  A big thank you to Mrs How and Mr Davies for working hard on organising the events and competitions that run throughout the week. 

     

    We all looked so smart and grown up on our school photos 🙂 it turned out to be a very busy Friday, particularly for Mrs Wileman.  😊

     

    Year 4 swam well and Year 4 continued to improve their Archery skills. 

     

    Year 2 had a super day over at Forest Schools on Thursday enhancing their topic outdoors. 

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 

     

    • All after school clubs have now finished with the exception of DANCE, DRAMA AND GREEN GOBLIN 

     

    • Year 2 have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon so can come to school in their PE kits 

     

    • Selected children are attending a TAG RUGBY tournament on Thursday after school - separate details have been sent to appropriate children 

     

    • Thursday KS2 have MACBETH in the afternoon - if you haven't already done so, please pay via PARENTPAY.  If we don't cover the cost of this performance, it will be cancelled which would be a great shame! 

     

    • *Friday is RED NOSE DAY - children can come in non-uniform (wearing something RED) - no football shirts

  • Another week flies by!! 🙂

    • Year 4 had a productive afternoon swimming on Monday

     

    • Year 5 enjoyed their Archery session with Progressive Sports on Tuesday 

     

    • Our Tag Rugby Team did us proud at the tournament at Stafford Rugby Club on Wednesday - thanks to our parent volunteers who supported us 🙂 

     

    • Year 1 loved their Forest Schools session on Thursday 

     

    • Everyone looked fabulous in their World Book costumes on Thursday and had a fun, packed reading kinda day 🙂 Keep an eye out for the book that your child is bringing home 

     

    • We finished the week with our Girls Football Tournament on Friday - thanks again to Miss Young for organising and our parent volunteers 

     

    Please note it's PHOTO DAY next Friday, so you may want a trip to the barber/hairdressers 🙂 

     

    Looking ahead to next week: -

     

    • We are celebrating Science Week - loads of lovely activities planned throughout the week.  The theme will focus on change and adaptation. 

    Our Science Gadget Shop will be open at break times! We are also excited to welcome you to our Science Fair on the 13th of March. 

    Please note that the deadline for entries to the Science Competition is the 12th of March

    More details on all of the above can be found in a separate letter which has been issued to you all.  It's going to be a great week 🙂 

     

    • Year 4 have swimming as normal on Monday 

     

    • Year 1 are holding a Phonics Information Session for Year 1 parents at 3.15pm - this provides some really key information re: - Phonics Screening so if you can attend, please do! 

     

    • Year 4 Progressive Sports on Tuesday - children can come to school in their PE kits 

     

    • After School Clubs are running this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 4pm prompt.  Please note: - this is the LAST WEEK OF CLUBS this half term with the exception of Dance and Green Goblin which will continue into next week 

     

    • Year 6 are holding a SATS information session on Tuesday @ 3.15pm for parents.  This will provide you with key information for the week of SATS 

     

    • Year 4 are holding a Multiplication Check Information Session for parents on Wednesday @ 3.15pm for parents - once again crucial information will be issued so please attend if you can 

     

    • Science Fair to be held on Thursday 13th March - a separate letter has been issued 

     

    • Year 2 Forest Schools all day on Thursday - children can come to school in old, warm clothes and a change of sturdy footwear 

     

    • Photography Day on Friday - all children to wear FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM please 🙂

    We hope you all had a lovely time.

     

    Year 4 are still making lots of progress in their weekly swimming session.  Well done to them all 🎉🎉

     

    Year 6 enjoyed their second Archery session with Progressive Sports and had a very productive day over at Forest School on Thursday. 🎯🎯

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 🏊🏊

     

    • Year 5 have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon so can come to school in PE kit 

     

    • After schools club this week as normal.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only. Prompt collection at 4pm. 

     

    • Year 1 have Forest Schools on Thursday.  Children can wear old clothes and sturdy footwear please.  

     

    • Tag Rugby Tournament for selected children on Thursday after school at Stafford Rugby Club.  A separate letter has been sent to any children invited to this. 

     

    • THURSDAY is World Book Day. 

    To celebrate this year, children can dress up if they want to and bring in their favourite book from home to share with their class.  No football kits or shirts though!!! 

    We have organised for each child in school to receive a book rather than give out vouchers which get lost in the bottom of bags, never to be seen again, so keep a look out.

  • We made it to the end of the half term!!

    Well done on navigating the road closures and still getting to school 🙂 

     

    So, this week has been another busy one: - 

     

    • We celebrated Safer Internet Day with a whole school assembly on the importance of keeping safe online 

     

    • Year 4 enjoyed their Archery session on Tuesday afternoon - they really were a very good shot 🙂 

     

    • Year 6 and Year 5 both had an enjoyable and very productive session over at Forest Schools on Thursday

     

    • Thanks to those parents who attended the Year 4 Camp information session - we hope you found the information helpful and that it will help you prepare over the coming weeks 🙂 

     

    • We finished the half term off with our Bouncy Valentine Disco - everyone had an amazing time - thanks for all who donated their £1 

     

    Looking ahead to the first week back after half term: - 

     

    • We return to school on Monday 24th February 2025 

     

    • Year 4 Swimming as normal on Monday afternoon

  • And another week rolls on by!!

    Thanks for your patience with the roof repairs and accessing/exiting school through the very small gate!!  

     

    So, this week: - 

    • Year 4 are improving week on week with their swimming lessons 

     

    • Everyone had fun with their Dragon, Fan and Umbrella Dancing on Monday to celebrate the Lunar New Year.   If you haven't paid for this experience, then please do so via parent pay 🙂

     

    • After School Clubs have begun this week and everyone attending the clubs had fun 🙂 A big 'shout out' to staff who run these clubs in their own time 

     

    • Year 3 enjoyed their Progressive Sport Archery Session on Tuesday and their day over at Forest Schools on Thursday 

     

    • We ended the week by celebrating NSPCC Number Day with a few challenges set throughout the day 🙂 Thanks to all those who donated a £1. 

     

    So, the final week of this half term: - 

    • Year 4 swimming on Monday 

     

    • Year 4 have Progressive Sports on Tuesday so can wear their PE kit all day 

     

    • We are also celebrating Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 

     

    • On Thursday @ 3.15pm Mr Atkinson will be delivering a Camp Information Session for Year 4 parents - lots of important information given so please do attend if your child is going to camp 🙂 

     

    • Forest Schools this week on Thursday will be Year 6 in the morning and Year 5 in the afternoon.  Children can come to school in old warm clothes and must bring a change of sturdy footwear (boots or wellies) 

     

    • Friday is our 'Valentines Bouncy Day'.  Children can come to school in non-uniform with hints of 'red or pink'.  If you haven't paid for this event yet, please do so via Parent Pay.

    I'm sure we will all have a fabulous day bouncing ourselves into the half term break 🙂 

     

    • We break up at 3.15pm on Friday 14th February 2025 to enable us all to recharge our batteries.

    After School Clubs letters have been issued this week.  You will receive a Text to confirm which club your child can attend.

     

    Clubs run on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday with a prompt collection of 4pm.   A reminder that these clubs are run by staff in their own time.   

     

    So, this week looked a bit like this: - 

    • Celebrated 'Storytelling Week' with a range of activities throughout the week, all associated with Lunar New Year. 
    • Thanks to those who came along and supported the Book Fair at the beginning of the week.  We'll let you know how much school have to spend of books for our school 🙂 A big thank you to various staff who helped to man the Book Fair and to Mrs Fenton for organising the fair and a fantastic Story Telling Week full of lots of amazing activities 
    • Year 2 enjoyed both Progressive Sports (Archery) and Forest Schools on Thursday. 
    • Year 3 took part in an observed walk around the local area as part of their 'road safety’.  A big thank you to our parent volunteers who helped out.  It's very much appreciated. 
    • Year 1 took part in a lesson about 'Seatbelt Safety' 
    • Reception had a visit from the Opticians for those parents who returned the consent form 🙂

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

    • We are celebrating the Chinese New Year with our 'Lunar Workshops' on Monday - if you haven't already paid, please do so via Parent Pay 
    • Year 4 swimming as normal 
    • Year 3 Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can wear PE kits to school on this day 
    • After School Clubs commence this week on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday until 4pm - please collect promptly 
    • Year 3 have Forest Schools on Thursday so can come to school in old, warm clothes and need to bring a change of footwear (sturdy boots or wellies are ideal) 
    • NSPCC Number Day on Friday - £1 contribution.  Non-uniform and wear a number 🙂
