  • This week has been all about our Year 1 and Year 4 Superstars

    Fri 13 Jun 2025

    who have completed their phonics and multiplication checks. 

     

    We are extremely proud of every single one of them.   They have given 110% and have worked their socks off all year!!  🙂 

     

    Enjoy a well-deserved rest and recharge your batteries over the weekend 

     

    • Reception enjoyed their afternoon with Progressive Sports 

     

    • Year 6 leaver photographs have been taken 🙂 

     

    • Year 6 had a fabulous fun-filled, action packed day on Wednesday at Alton Towers.  The sun made an appearance as well which was an added bonus!!

     

    • Thanks to those who came to our PTFA meeting on Friday - if anyone has any suitable raffle prizes to contribute to our Summer Fayre, please drop them off at the office.  Many thanks in advance 

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal 

     

    • Year 6 Progressive Sports on Tuesday - children to come to school in their full PE kits 

     

    • Year 5 school trip all day on Tuesday (more details given in a separate letter) 

     

    • Year 3 have Forest Schools on Thursday.  Children to wear old clothes, long trousers or leggings and bring a change of footwear 

     

    • After School Clubs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Prompt collection at 4pm 

     

    • Selected children to attend Hednesford Football Tournament (details sent in a separate letter)

  • Welcome back to the final half term of this academic year!!

    Everyone has settled well into the school routine and we are already in full swing in readiness for a very busy half term. 

     

    Please note: - After School Clubs start next week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday only) prompt collection at 4pm.   These run for a 4-week period only.  You will have received a text to confirm which club your child is attending.  A reminder that if children miss 2 sessions, then their place will be offered to another pupil on the waiting list 

    Many thanks to staff who run these clubs in their own time. 

     

    • Year 5 embraced their skateboarding session on Tuesday 🙂 

     

    • Selected Year 6 children had a great time at Stafford College taking part in their Lego Workshop (see separate facebook post).  Thanks to Mrs Fenton for accompanying the children for the day. 

     

    • Our Green Goblin Car Club represented FL at Lichfield on Thursday - a special thank you to Mr Davies who has organised this event and his parent helper (you know who you are).  Also, thanks to Miss Bunn for transporting our Green Goblin.  

     

    • Year 5 enjoyed their day on Thursday over at Forest Schools 🙂 

     

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday 

     

    • Year 6 Leavers Photographs on Monday afternoon - full uniform to be worn please 

     

    • Year 1 Phonics screening all week 

     

    • Year 4 Multiplication Screening all week 

     

    • It's the turn of Reception to have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children to come to school in their PE kit 

     

    • Year 6 are at Alton Towers on Wednesday - separate letter sent with further details re drop off/collection etc 

     

    • No Forest Schools Session this week 

     

    • PTFA meeting @ 9am on Friday - Organising the Summer Fayre - we need volunteers for this please otherwise it will be a much smaller event that we hope!! 🙂 Everyone is welcome - it would be lovely to see a few new faces.  Mrs B and Miss Y 🙂

  • Happy Half Term everyone 🙂

    Another busy week at school: - 

    • Year 2 enjoyed their afternoon of skateboarding with Progressive Sports 
    • The final Forest Schools Parental session went well and we've received some amazing feedback to say how much you all enjoyed it - more sessions to follow next academic year 🙂
    • We ended the week with our non-uniform day - thanks to all who supported the School Council Pot of Gold by contributing a £1 - very much appreciate 

     

    So, looking ahead to after half term 

    • We have an INSET day on Monday 2nd June 2025 so school isn't open to children until Tuesday 3rd June 2025 
    • Year 4 Multiplication Checks throughout this week and into next week 
    • It's the turn of Year 5 to have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon for skateboarding - PE kits can be worn all day and jogging bottoms are advised 🙂 
    • Selected Year 6s are taking part in a Lego Workshop at Stafford College on Wednesday 4th June - separate letters have been issued to those children who will be attending - a reminder that parents do need to drop children off at Stafford College and collect. 
    • Selected children are Green Goblin Racing on Thursday 5th June with Mr Davies - again, these children have received a separate letter with more details 
    • Year 5 have Forest Schools on Thursday - children to wear old clothes and bring a change of study footwear - legs do need to be covered (no shorts) 
    • Year 4 have their termly visit from chef on Friday 6th June

     

    So, a very busy first week back and a very busy half term 🙂

    PTFA Meeting - preparation for the Summer Fayre 

    Our next meeting will be held on Friday 13th June @ 9am - if you can help out or lend a hand, please do come along 🙂 It would be lovely to see a few new faces

  • This week is all about our Year 6 Superstars!!

    Fri 16 May 2025

     They have completed their SATS and have made us all super proud with their sheer determination to try their very hardest 🙂 

     

    Whatever the outcome, you should be very proud of all you have achieved.  All staff at FL are very impressed with your attitude to learning and to the SATS challenge. 

     

    Have a well-earned rest this weekend and you have so many lovely things to look forward to over your last few weeks at FL. 

     

    A 'special shout out' to all staff who volunteered their time to prepare breakfast for the children each morning - it is very much appreciated.   It definitely worked in getting all our Year 6's to school early 🙂 

     

    Meanwhile in school this week: - 

    • Year 3 have enjoyed Progressive Sports and skateboarding on Tuesday afternoon 🙂 
    • Our parental 'Forest Schools' sessions went well on Thursday and we have had lots of very positive comments in relation to them.  Sorry for those who didn't manage to get on the sessions but we were very limited on numbers due to insurance and making sure that everyone was safe.  

    We'll organise some more sessions in the new academic year so those of you who haven't yet experienced it, have the opportunity. 

     

    On to next week: - 

    • Year 4 swimming on Monday afternoon as normal 
    • Year 2 have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children need to come in their PE Kit 
    • Thursday @ 9.30am we have the Sibling Forest School Session for those who are booked on it.  A reminder to come to the school reception, no mobile phones and to supervise your children at all times. 
    • If attending the parental forest school’s session, please arrive on time at the office at 9.20am so that a safety briefing can be done, get everyone over to forest school and the site secured.   You will then have maximum time doing all the exciting activities 
    • Year 1 have Forest Schools on Thursday afternoon.  Children can come to school in old clothes and must cover their legs.   Suntan lotion to be applied prior to arriving at school, bring a sun hat and a change of shoes.

     

     

    To end the week, we have 'wear your favourite colour' non-uniform day on Friday 23rd May 2025 in exchange for £1 for our School Council Pot of Gold 🙂 

     

    A polite reminder that all children should be wearing 'black shoes' rather than 'black trainers' as this is our school uniform.  We pride ourselves on everyone looking super smart.  Thanks for your support with this. 

     

    Another sunny week forecast, so please make sure sun lotion is applied before coming to school, a sun hat and a full water bottle.

    Hope you all had a fabulous long weekend 

     

    A polite reminder: - After the school day has ended or at the weekend, children should not return to the school site to play on the field or on school grounds.  Thanks for your support in this. 

     

    • So, Year 1 had a great afternoon skateboarding with Progressive Sports 🙂 
    • Everyone enjoyed the Circus Workshop and had a go with learning new tricks and skills - if you haven't already paid for this experience, please do so via Parent Pay 
    • Reception and Year 5 both had a smashing day over at Forest Schools enhancing their outdoor skills 
    • We had a whole school VE day Assembly on Thursday 
    • Friday, we ended the week with our Gotta Dance Assembly - the dancers were absolutely fantastic.  A special 'thank you' to Miss Young for making sure everything was absolutely perfect 🙂

     

    Now to next week 🙂 

     

    Year 6 SATS week - Year 6 children to arrive at school at 8.15am for a free breakfast (Monday to Thursday only) 

     

    Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 

     

    Year 3 Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children to come to school in PE kits - a reminder NO FOOTBALL TOPS 

     

    Forest Schools on Thursday are the pre-booked Parental Sessions - please note all spaces have now gone.  

    If you are booked on the morning session, please arrive at school (main reception) at 9.20am and leave mobile phones at home. 

    Afternoon sessions please arrive at school (main reception) at 1.20pm.  Again, mobile phones must be left at home. 

    All children to leave school at the normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    Those children who are taking part in the Forest Schools Sessions above can come to school in old clothes and bring a change of sturdy footwear.

  • What a glorious week to start back at school!! 🙂

    We hope you all had a fantastic Easter Break and ready for the Summer Term to commence. 

     

    • Year 4 had a great afternoon skateboarding with Progressive Sports 
    • Year 1 had a lovely day over at Forest Schools on Thursday - their weather was just amazing:) 

     

    Our Dance Club represented FL at the Gatehouse on Thursday.  A massive thank you to Miss Young who has dedicated so much time to teaching the dance to the children and obtaining costumes along with all the other organisation that an event like this takes.  

    Also, a special mention to Mrs Locke and Mrs Wileman who supported the children to the event and stayed with them.  Last but not least, for any parents who attended the event 🙂

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

    • Bank Holiday Monday so school is closed all day 
    • On Wednesday, we have a Circus Skills Workshop for everyone - if you've not already paid, please do so on Parent Pay £3 per child 🙂 
    • Year 1 Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can wear their PE kits 
    • Forest Schools on Thursday.  Reception in the morning and Year 5 in the afternoon.  Children can come in their own clothes and bring a change of sturdy footwear. 

     

    A polite reminder - we are noticing that more and more children are using Forest Schools as an additional non-uniform day wearing fashion clothes!!   Children need to wear old clothes as they will get dirty, could get ripped or torn by a branch etc so please ensure clothes worn by children on forest school’s day are old.  Thanks everyone 

     

    FOREST SCHOOLS PARENTS SESSIONS are now full.  If we do get any cancellations then we will let you know. 

     

    Friday 9th May @ 9am - our Gotta Dance Team are performing their dance for anyone who missed it!!  So, feel free to pop into the hall after drop off.  It is absolutely amazing!! 🙂 

     

    Summer Dates have been updated via MM, website and facebook. 

     

    Summer newsletters have also now been issued giving details of curriculum learning. 

     

    After School Clubs will commence after May half term (with it being such a short half term and also Year 6 SATS) 🙂

  • Happy Easter Jollibobs everyone!!

    A quick summary of this week: - 

     

    We raised a staggering £248 from our Easter Raffle and Tombola.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to this amount 🙂 

     

    • Year 4 had an amazing time at Camp and have certainly tried out lots of different activities and become much more independent - well done to you all.  A special thank you to Mr Atkinson and Mrs Barlow for supervising the children over the 3 days 🙂 

     

    • Reception enjoyed Progressive Sports this week and continued to develop their Archery skills 

     

    • Year 3 had a lovely sunny day over at Forest Schools enhancing their stone age topic with jewellery made out of salt dough, making paint out of pigment and identifying plants and leaf rubbing 🙂 A super busy day had by all!! 

     

    • We had many sporting events after school this week - please see the separate facebook post with further details and pictures 🙂 Thanks to Miss Young and Mr Davies for organising and supporting.  Also, our parent volunteers. 

     

    • Thanks to everyone who attend Parents Evening, we hope you found the information provided useful and will add any home learning

     

    Forward planning for the first week back after the Easter Break: - 

     

    • Progressive Sports will be the turn of Year 4 on Tuesday afternoon.  Children can come to school in their PE kits on this day 

     

    • Forest Schools will be the turn of Year 1 on Thursday 1st May 2025.  Children can come to school in their old clothes and must bring a change of sturdy footwear. 

     

     

    Have a super fun filled Easter, hopefully this lovely weather will continue through the break. 

     

    Children return to school on Monday 28th April 2025.  

     

    A polite reminder, we have an open-door policy, so please do speak to any member of staff with any issues or questions, rather than putting on Social Media or in a Class What's App Group in the first instance!!  As not everything you read on-line is always accurate 🙂

  • Another very busy week!!

    Many thanks to everyone who came along to watch our KS2 Spring Production 🙂 It was lovely to see our KS2 on stage and I'm sure you will agree, they were fantastic. 

    A big 'shout out' to all of our KS2 team who have worked hard with the children over the last few weeks to ensure they were 'production' ready. 

    Also thank you to both of our 'pot of gold' winners, who very kindly donated their winnings back to school - you are amazing 

     

    • Year 3 had a great time on Tuesday afternoon with Progressive Sports

     

    • Year 4 enjoyed their time over at Forest Schools on Thursday - the weather was amazing for them as well 

     

    • Year 1 and 2 had the best time at Peak Wildlife.  They saw so many different animals and the weather was amazing 🙂 Thanks to any parent volunteers who supported us and helped out during the day - we hope you enjoyed yourselves as well 

     

    • We finished the week with a non-uniform day in exchange for chocolate.  A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our chocolate tombola.  Miss Young and School Council will be sending more details out about this early next week 🙂 

     

    So only 5 more get ups!!  🙂 

     

    • Easter Bonnet Competition this week, also raffle tickets on sale for Easter Treats 🐣🐣 see separate Facebook post for more details 

     

    • Year 4 at Camp on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - a separate letter has been issued with details of drop off and collection 
    • Those children not going to camp need to line up with Year 3 on the playground at the beginning of the school day 👍

     

    • Reception have Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can come to school in their PE Kits for the day 

     

    • Year 1 and Year 5 Parents Evening on Tuesday (appointments have been sent) = all children to be released at the normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    • Various football tournaments after school (separate letters have been sent to those children who are involved in each competition) 

     

    • Year 3 have Forest Schools on Thursday 10th April -children can come to school in their old clothes and need to bring a change of sturdy footwear 

     

    • EYFS Easter Bingo on Thursday 10th April - a separate letter giving more details has been issued 

     

    • Parents Evening for Nursery, Reception, Year 2, 3, 4 and 6 on Thursday (appointments have been sent) - all children to be released at the normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    We break up for the Easter Break at 3.15pm on Friday 11th April 2025.  Please collect children promptly so we can all sort our Easter Jollibobs 🙂 

     

    We have a few kitchen vacancies coming up in the next few weeks.   Please spread the word.  If anyone is interested, details can be found on our facebook page.  Contact Donna King for an application form.

    Please note: - All After School Clubs have now finished until SUMMER 2.  Green Goblin has also finished.  Please collect all children at normal finish time of 3.15pm 

     

    • Early Years had the best day at the farm learning about the animals and feeding the lambs!  Thank you to our parent helpers - a fantastic day all round!  Head to your child's class page for more photographs under the events tab 🙂 

     

    • Year 1 had a fun afternoon with Progressive Sports 🙂 

     

    • Thanks to those parents who took time out of their very busy day to attend the Year 4 multiplication information session - we hope you found the session useful 

     

    • Year 4 had a great morning with Chef preparing a fruit and vegetable salad.  They learnt the bridge and claw method to cut and slice the food and finished the session tasting their salads 🙂

     

    • Year 5 had an extremely productive day over at Forest Schools enhancing their curriculum learning 

     

    • Our Year 5 and 6 girls had an amazing time at Stafford Manor taking part in the All Girls Festival where they participated in Archery, Bench-ball and Football against Silkmore Primary and Rowley Park Academy.  We are still waiting on the final results and scores.  Miss Young and Mr Davies were extremely impressed by your immense determination and you all did FL proud!! 🙂 

     

    Looking ahead to next week: - 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 

     

    • Year 3 Progressive Sports on Tuesday afternoon - children can come in their PE kits as normal 

     

    • KS2 Spring Production on Wednesday - please only attend if you have a ticket.  A reminder that no photographs to be taken during the performance as we have children on stage who can't have their photographs taken due to safeguarding or parental choice.  

     

     

    • On Thursday Year 1 and Year 2 have their school trip to PEAK WILDLIFE - a separate letter has been sent with further details of what your child needs for the day 

     

    • Year 4 Forest Schools all day on Thursday - children can come to school in old clothes and bring a change of sturdy footwear 

     

    • We end the week with a NON-UNIFORM DAY on Friday in exchange for chocolate for our Chocolate Tombola 🙂 Football shirts are allowed 🙂

    Please note - DANCE and DRAMA club have now finished.  Please collect children at normal school finish time. 

     

    A big 'thank you' to Mrs Fenton for sourcing a World Book Day book for every single child who attends Flash Ley.  Amazing 🙂 

    Also, a 'shout out' to Mrs Locke and Mrs Hepple who went to collect the books 

    All books were issued to each child this week 🙂

     

    • Year 4 had a successful and productive swimming session on Monday 

     

    • Year 2 continued to master their Archery skills on Tuesday 

     

    • Selected Year 3 & 4 pupils represented our school at the Tag Rugby at Stafford Rugby Club.  A big thank you to Mr Davies and Miss Young for supervising and organising the event 🙂 Also to any parental volunteers - events like this wouldn't happen without your much-needed help 🙂 

    As this event was new to Year 3 and Year 4, it was a festival to enjoy and start to understand the skills and rules of the game.  All children did Flash Ley proud with good listening for the coaches and determination and perseverance towards having a go at the game.  Well done everyone - a very proud HT moment 🙂 

     

    • KS2 enjoyed the MACBETH Performance on Thursday afternoon - if you haven't already paid for this, please do so via Parent Pay.  This performance is the foundation in readiness for SHAKESPEARE WEEK next week.  Watch this space 

     

    • Reception soaked up the sun over at Forest Schools on Thursday - they all had an amazing time 🙂 

     

    • We ended the week celebrating RED NOSE DAY.  Thanks to everyone who donated to this amazing charity.

    • Shakespeare Week 

     

    • Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday afternoon 

     

    • EYFS trip out on Tuesday - details have been sent in a separate letter.  If you haven't paid, please do so before Tuesday via Parent Pay.

    We've noticed we have quite a few children wearing hoodies all week.
