World Music Day 2024

On Friday 21st June Flash Ley turned into Rockstars!!

We celebrated World Music Day by learning about the history of rock and roll! We had a whole school assembly where we 'rocked out' before then learning about key rock and roll artists in our classes. 

Year 6- The Rolling Stones

Year 6 learnt about Mick Jagger and The Rolling Stones. We looked at the iconic logo and designed our own rock band logo. 

Year 3 had a great time dressing up as rock stars and learned all about the band Oasis.

Year 5 have had a great day learning about Rock and Roll.  Children spent the day learning all about the rock legends AC/DC.  Year 5 listened to songs, researched the band, wrote a non chronological report about them and a character profile as well as designing a new logo and writing their own song to an AC/DC tune.

Year 2 Rockstars enjoyed listening to U2 songs. Our favourite was with or without you. 

Y1 Rocked today learning all about Rock and Roll through the Years. We stopped in the 80's and learnt all about Jon Bon Jovi and his Band. We tried out the style of 'Head Banging' and Air Guitars. We thought it was GREAT!!!!

Nursery were all dressed to impress with their rock 'n' roll outfits. We listened to the band Queen and discussed the type of instruments used to play this genre of music. We then practised our rock 'n' roll hand gesture and learned the dance from We Will Rock you! 

Reception 'rocked out' to the music of Queen! We enjoyed a rock writing session where we made marks to match the beat of the music and express how it made us feel. We held our own rock concert and performed we will rock you!
