National Story Telling Week 2023

This year we have gone big with National Story Telling Week and it has been a whole community event!

We started off the week with a whole school assembly led by Mr Atkinson on the art of telling a story (with some excellent acting by staff).

We are so lucky to have a beautiful library which is organised into EYFS/KS1 and Fiction and Non Fiction for KS2. It has been open every day this week for children to enjoy the wonderful books we have and promote reading for pleasure. Our librarians are lovingly organising the sections to make them more accessible for everyone.

On Monday after school we held a book sale. We had a great turn out with everyone going away with new books to read- adults included! Thank you so much for your support. The money raised will go towards new books for the library.

To promote the art of story telling, staff have visited different classes to share their love of stories and share a favourite book/story with the children.

On Wednesday we held our first ever Family Read after school. We had an amazing turn out of families who came and heard different stories, used props to create their own and listened with a yummy hot chocolate and a biscuit. Thank you to everyone that attended.

As well as writing lots of our own individual stories, we wrote stories as a phase: EYFS/KS1 and KS2. See the creative stories we came up with.

KS2 Story- Terror of the World

Nursery have been enjoying Story Telling Week too!

To finish off a jam packed week, children all got the chance to read with a child from another class. They read their reading book as well as shared their amazing stories that they've written this week.
