Welcome to the Flash Ley Music Page.
The subject lead is Mrs Fenton.
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high-quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and develop their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
The children at Flash Ley are given a fun and varied curriculum with all children having access to at least 1 hour of musical activity a week. This is enhanced through musical experiences throughout the year. We are lucky enough to have a specialist teacher to teach Steel Pans to Year 4, Guitar to a group of Year 5 as well as a KS1 and KS2 choir.
At Flash Ley all children should be given the same opportunities to excel in Music. It will allow them to explore who they are musically through rich, personalised experiences . Children will build their confidence to explore the opportunities Music can offer them and develop their self-esteem through performing in front of their peers or an audience. We will foster and grow a love of music within each and every child who attends our school regardless of background, prior experiences, need or religion.

Music Long Term Plan*
*From 2022 we have purchased a class set of keyboards so children can leave Flash Ley competent playing two instruments. In order to start this musical journey all children in every year group will have to learn the basics in keyboards. To do this we will be adapting the Spring Term units to do this.
