Writing

Welcome to our writing page. Children use their phonic knowledge to begin to write the sounds they can hear and blend them into words. Many of our children are applying their phase 2 and some phase 3 letters and sounds to write captions and sentences. Writing sentences is a tricky task, so patience is key when supporting independent writing. Supporting the children to write independently is much more valuable than writing and sentence and getting them to copy words.

The below document shows examples of the expectation of Reception children by the end of the academic year - note how the sentences are spelt phonetically using the letters and sounds children know. This is the expectation in Reception.
