Computing

The Computing Coordinator is Mrs Hughes

The use of information and communication technology is an integral part of the national curriculum and is a key skill for everyday life. Computers, tablets, programmable robots, mobile phones and video cameras are a few of the tools that can be used to acquire, organise, store, manipulate, interpret, communicate and present information.

At Flash Ley our computing curriculum provides children with the skills to thrive in a digital world. We aim to equip children with the skills and knowledge to be safe, competent and creative in all aspects of computer technology. Our high quality curriculum prepares children to understand and change the world through computational thinking. As technology is ever changing we closely monitor this subject to ensure we keep our pupils safe and up to date. We deliver an exciting and rigorous curriculum that addresses the challenges and opportunities offered by the technologically rich world in which we live.

Children are taught Computing at Flash Ley through 3 key strands:

1. Programming & Computer Science

2. Online Safety & Digital Literacy

3. Information technology

Our computing curriculum is taught using J2E. This software enables us to teach children a vast array of skills through age appropriate tools and programs.
