Summer Term
This term we will be reading a number of books all based around our topic of ‘Queen Elizabeth II’. We will be starting off with the story ‘Katie goes to London’. This fantastic book tells the adventures of Katie and her younger brother in London. As they explore all the sights we will be paying special attention to Buckingham Palace and The Tower of London. This story will inspire us to write postcards. Some other stories we will be exploring this term include; The Queen’s Knickers, The Queens Handbag, The Queen’s Hat and Paddington in London.
Throughout our English lessons we will build up to our final pieces of writing. These writing outcomes will include, descriptive writing, letter writing, information texts, postcards, imaginative writing and poetry.
In Year One we will be working extremely hard this term to implement and apply all the wonderful skills we have learnt throughout the year including using capital letters and full stops accurately, question marks and exclamation marks, the conjunction ‘and’ to join our sentences, and of course the wow vocabulary we work so very hard on!
