  • Another week flies by 🙂

    Fri 26 Jan 2024
    • Year 3 had a fun filled day over in Forest Schools.  They enhanced their topic by making stone age tools, did a bit of spear throwing and then made some bread 🙂
    • Year 2 spent the afternoon with Progressive Sports learning how to play Tchoukball
    • After School clubs have started this week - a reminder to collect promptly from the school office @ 4pm
    • A selection of our Year 4 and 5 children went over to Stafford Manor on Thursday after school to take part in a selection of Multi Sports - they all had an amazing time.  One of our teams came FIRST, another of our teams came THIRD!!  What an achievement.  Well done to each and every one of you.  🙂 Proud HT moment 🙂
    • Year 4 spent an enjoyable morning with chef on Friday.  They concentrated on knife skills and made a lovely salad - why not ask them all about it?

So, looking ahead to next week: -

    • Story Telling Week 🙂
    • Year 2 Forest Schools all day on Monday - old warm clothes, coat and a change of footwear please
    • Book Fayre is in school from Monday - Wednesday in the library after school (separate facebook post with more details)

    • On Friday we are celebrating NSPCC Number Day - children can come to school in non-uniform wearing something with a number on it.  This could be a sports shirt, cap or even a onesie.  Or you may choose to be a bit more creative dressing as a dice or calculator 🙂 (good luck with that little task) 🙂 £1 donation towards NSPCC for everyone who comes in non-uniform.

    • Watch Me Learn Sessions for parents to attend for: - EYFS @ 9am and Year 1 and Year 2 @ 9.30am.  Please leave mobile phones at home and come to main reception for the relevant time.   A separate letter will be sent via MM to the appropriate year groups with further details on Monday of next week

    • Keep your eyes peeled for the Valentines Disco letter which will be issued next week 🙂

Have a lovely weekend and see you all on Monday

  • It's Friday!! 🙂

    Fri 19 Jan 2024

Another productive week and we managed to get through the week with very little disruption due to the weather!

So, this week at a glance: -

    • Year 5 had a very cold but fantastic day over at Forest Schools on Monday
    • Year 5 also enjoyed getting to grips with Tchoukball - why not ask them all about it?
    • I'm hoping that those of you who wanted to meet and have a chat with Mr Davies managed to attend the 'meet the teacher' on Wednesday 🙂
    • Year 1 and 2 girls did FL proud at the Football Tournament at Beaconside on Thursday - you were all amazing!!  A big 'shout out' to Miss Young and Mrs Aldridge for supporting the children 🙂

Looking ahead to next week: -

    • Year 3 have Forest Schools all day on Monday.  Children to wear old clothes, wear a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.  Please also ensure they bring a change of footwear.
    • Year 2 have Progressive Sport on Tuesday afternoon.  Children to wear PE kit on this day.  A reminder to leave all jewellery at home
    • All after school clubs start this week with the exception of DANCE.  Clubs run on a Tuesday and Thursday only until 4pm.  Notification of which club you child has been accepted on to will be via text to you all in due course
    • Year 4 have Chef in for their next session on Friday 🙂

And that's it for this week.   Recharge those batteries and have a fun filled weekend.  Take care and stay safe

Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you all on Monday

Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂

  • Happy New Year!!

    Fri 12 Jan 2024

We hope you had a lovely Christmas and wish you all lots of happiness and fun in 2024.

So, we've all settled very quickly into the school routine again 🙂 Everyone is looking super smart and lots of learning has taken place already this week.

We welcome Mr Davies to our FL Team.  He’s now finding his feet and we look forward to his involvement and contribution to our FL community.

So, a recap of the week: -

    • Year 4 and Year 6 had fun enhancing their topic learning over at Forest School on Monday

    • Year 4 were amazing as always at swimming

    • Year 1 loved playing Tchoukball on Tuesday afternoon - why not ask them all about it? 🙂

Looking ahead to next week: -

    • It's the turn of Year 5 to spend the day over at Forest School.  The forecast is for the cold snap to continue so please ensure children wear warm, old clothes, gloves, scarf and a hat.  Along with a change of footwear (wellies preferably as it's really wet over there)

    • Year 4 swimming on Monday afternoon - a reminder to leave all jewellery at home

    • Year 5 have progressive sports on Tuesday afternoon so children can come to school in their PE kits

    • Wednesday 17th January @3.20pm we have organised a Meet The Teacher for our Year 5 parents to meet and have a chat with Mr Davies (if you haven't already had the opportunity to do so)

    • Please ensure with the colder weather that is on the way that all children come to school in proper warm coats (rather than a hoody or gilet) along with gloves, scarves and a hat as they still go outside for a bit of fresh air at both break and lunch.  Thanks for your support.

    • A polite ask please: - we appreciate that on occasions end of day arrangements change and that requires a telephone call to the office to inform us who is collecting your child or who your child is going home with.  Can we please, please ask that any calls of this nature are done before 2.45pm on the day as otherwise it cuts it very fine for Mrs Wileman to run around school with messages to relevant class teachers, if parents aren't ringing until 3.10pm.  Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

    • Dates for the SPRING Term have been issued via Facebook/MM and have been uploaded to the website and calendar.  We endeavour to remind you of each event in advance, but this doesn’t always happen as ‘stuff’ gets in the way 😊 so it might be an idea to pop all relevant dates in your diary now to avoid disappointment.
    • If you require or prefer a paper copy, please pop in to the office and we can arrange that for you 😊

    • Spring Class Newsletters should now have been issued which give details of ‘learning’ that will be happening in each class 😊

    • The dreaded 's' word is being mentioned for next week!!  School closures due to snow are not taken lightly and don't happen very often at all.  However, if we do need to close school due to weather conditions, notifications will be sent as soon as a decision is made via our MM app and Text 2 Parents app.
    • Please ensure you have the MM app downloaded on your phone so that you receive all notifications.

Have a fabulous weekend and we'll see you all on Monday 🙂

Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂
