Flash Ley celebrated Easter!
The children all celebrated the Christian festival of Easter and produced some wonderful pieces of work alongside enjoying fun activities such as a Easter egg hunt.
A special Easter assembly took place, Easter activities took place in all classes and the student council organised a egg hunt with all the classes that took part enjoying some delicious chocolate fingers!
On Friday 16th February Flash Ley celebrated Chinese New Year. During this focus day all the children in school; learnt about how this culture celebrate their New Year, they discovered why each year is named after an animal, they enjoyed taking part in craft activities, some children tried their hand at Chinese dancing and in some classes Chinese food was sampled!
On Tuesday 13th February the children of Flash Ley enjoyed learning about the Christian festival Shrove Tuesday. Many of the children enjoyed making and tasting pancakes as part of this.
During December the children at Flash Ley celebrated the Christian festival of Christmas. This included:
- an assembly about Christmas around the world
- focus sessions within classes learning about how Christmas is celebrated around the world
- carol singing
- the school choir singing at a local nursing home
-Christmas performances to parents
-Christmas parties and a Christmas fair
-A competition to make a stocking
-A selection box appeal with the selection boxes then donated to Good Hope Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital
The second part of Autumn term was spent with the children learning about the Jewish festival of Sukkot (also known as Tabernacles). This is a festival where Jewish people think about all the things they are thankful for.
This half term the children at Flash Ley have enjoyed celebrating Harvest. We had a wonderful Harvest Festival and were able to donate lots of lovely food!
On Thursday 19th October the whole school enjoyed finding out about Diwali and enjoyed participating in a wide range of Diwali themed activities.
