World Music Day 2025

In Nursery we had lots of fun looking at different instruments from around the world. We looked at what they were made from and different ways to play them. We also joined up with Reception to learn some new songs for our celebration assembly.

Year 3

Year 3 had a lovely day learning all about the 1980's and the fabulous music of this decade. They loved listening to a variety of songs and some children even recognised some of them! They were interested in the genre of 'synth-pop' and learned to sing the song 'Don't You Want Me?' by the Human League. It was great fun with the girls and boys singing different parts and all of them joining in the chorus together.

Year 4

In Year 4 we celebrated World Music Day by listening to a range of songs from different years, requested by the class and the teachers. We then reviewed the song and gave them a personal rating between 1 and 5 stars. Song songs were definitely better than others...

We also played a few games of Kahoot to test our music knowledge! It was Ava O that came out on top and won the quiz! Some music knowledge needs a little more revision though.

Finally we created music posters on any year of music. We chose a year that we thought had great music and had a choice of making celebration posters or an advertisement poster for a music festival with those artists.

Year 5

Year 5 have listened to a range of Spanish songs.  We have also listened to some classical music and made a dance, story or poem to match the mood.  Children took part in a music quiz and we made our school mantra into a tune.

Year 6

This year to celebrate our Spanish Day we listened to some Spanish music and compared it to the top 10 in the UK. We noticed that there were some songs that appeared in both, sometimes there was a language difference between them, but we felt they all had a 'summer vibe' to them! We then created our Flash Ley Playlist with songs linked to each of our school superheroes. Here's some we came up with:
