Reception 2025 - 2026

Above you will find our special Maths page!

You can see the rest of our wonderful learning each half term below:

Autumn A

Our theme this half term is 'Super Duper You'. We are settling into Reception and making lots of friends. We have been learning our daily routine and becoming familiar with our environments - indoors and out. We are developing our independence and learning to share, turn take and communicate our needs. Our PE unit is gymnastics so we have been giving our bodies a good stretch and learning all the ways we can move. We talked about how important looking after ur bodies is and started our toothbrushing to keep our mouths nice and clean! Forest school was amazing as we learnt about our likes and dislikes and what makes us unique. We made self-portraits with clay and natural finds! We started our phonics journey and enjoyed exploring lots of stories about being unique and what makes us super! We finished on a spooky note with a magical packet of seeds sprouting into our very own pumpkin picking patch!

Autumn B

We are back after half term with our new theme 'Fantastic Festivals'. We explored what traditions we have in our homes and what we love to celebrate. We enjoyed learning about celebrations and looking at bonfire night, Diwali and remembrance. Making our own Diwa lamps was great and attending a special remembrance assembly heped us understand the importance of thinking of others. We celebrated the seasons in Forest school, exploring the changes that happen as each season comes. We focused on celebrating an influential person - David Attenborough - we were amazed by all the places he had visited and loved exploring the world and the animals within.  We ended the term with a celebration of Christmas - delivering our own singing performance to all our adults!

Spring A

A new year and a new theme of 'Happy Ever After' emerging us with a love for stories and all things mythical! We entered the classroom to a crime scene and became our own detectives to solve the case. We learnt about story structure and how to make a good story. We started our helicopter stories using drama to act out familiar tales. We have been exploring heroes and villains and using our stage to act out our own story narratives. As our phonics knowledge progresses, we are beginning to label our work and share ideas in drawing club.
