This term, our topic is 'Queen Elizabeth II'.
This topic covers our wider-curriculum subjects including; Geography, History, Art and D&T.
Our concept question we will be endeavouring to answer is:
Would you like to be King or Queen?
In our very first topic lesson we will answer this question with no prior knowledge and after each lesson will come back and review whether our opinions have changed.
Throughout our lessons, we will be exploring facts about Queen Elizabeth, including her family tree, where she lives, her coronation and much more. Our Art and D&T skills will be covered through a number of projects also linking to our topic,
including creating a healthy, balanced plate of food for a street party.
In Music, our topic for the term is 'Fairytales', where we will be covering timbre. This ties in nicely to our Guided Reading lessons where we will cover a range of traditional and twisted fairytales. Children will also be learning to:
- Listen with concentration to a range of high-quality live and recorded music
- Use their voices expressively and creatively by singing songs and speaking chants and rhymes
- Play untuned instruments musically
- Create sounds using the interrelated dimensions of music (rhythm)
In Computing, we will be heading down to our fantastic ICT suite, where children will each have access to their own computer or laptop. Through the use of J2E, we will be covering Information Technology and Digital Literacy/Online Safety.
