Weekly Summary 2 October 2026
A polite reminder to all pupils and parents coming on site on bikes or scooters.
Please dismount at the pedestrian blue gate and then wheel your bike or scooter to the bike shed. We are having many parental concerns over someone either being run over or being pedalled. Please remind your child to dismount each morning.

A big drum roll for our Friends of FL who raised £90 for their Macmillan coffee morning - thanks to everyone who supported them 🎉
You know what they say - time flies when you're having fun 🙂
- We started off our week with an assembly recapping over British Values and then reminded everyone about our behaviour expectations at FL.
- Our new play buddies have started their training with Miss Young and have already started to arrange and plan some lovely games for our KS1 children. We can't wait to see what new games and activities they come up with over the coming months - well done guys - you are doing amazing 🙂
- Year 4 swimmers 'wow' Mrs Locke and I every single week - keep going guys you are totally smashing it
- Year 4 and Reception continued their curriculum learning from last week over at Forest School
- It was the turn of Year 1 and Year 6 to be transported into a relaxing 50 mins of concentrating on their breathing and getting to understand their emotions - a lovely time for each class to experience. Year 1 went on a safari adventure and practiced animal breaths and stretches. Year 6 practiced breathing techniques and they related them to how they can help to focus - they came up with ideas of where they might use their breath to slow down and focus.
- Thanks to those Year 1 parents who took time out of a very busy day to attend our Phonics Workshop. We hoped it gave you a valuable insight into how phonics is taught within Flash Ley and will help you at home also. Thanks for those who have completed our little questionnaire - it is very much appreciated 🙏🌞
- Year 5 enjoyed their enrichment afternoon with our new provider - Time 4 Sport on Friday afternoon. They participated in leadership and teamwork games. Everyone loved it.
- Our Harvest Table looked amazing and the children had a lovely sing song in our Harvest Assembly. We are so very lucky to have such a supportive community. All the donations will be gratefully received by Rising Brook Church. Thanks to everyone who donated. It is very much appreciated.
- Finally, thanks to those parents who attended our Coffee Morning on Friday - we hope you found this group supportive and reflective.
Looking ahead to next week: -
- After School Clubs start on Tuesday and Thursday of this week - prompt collection at 4pm. A reminder that if your child misses 2 after school club sessions then they will automatically be removed from the register to allow those on the waiting list to be added.
If you child has secured a club space on a Tuesday or Thursday club you should have already received a J2E notifying you of this.
All clubs are now full 🎉🎉
- Our Friends of FL are holding a little coffee/biscuit get together on Monday @ 9am - they are looking forward to welcoming a few new faces 🙂
- Year 4 Swimming as normal - no jewellery please
- Forest Schools this Tuesday is the turn of: - Year 3 (in the morning) and Year 5 (in the afternoon) - children can come to school in old, warm clothes and must bring a change of sturdy footwear 🙂

Have a lovely weekend and we'll see you all next week for another fun filled week
