A final decision will be made as to whether the COLOUR RUN will continue on MONDAY - we only have 62 people signed up at the moment and it's costing over £1k so I’m sure you will all understand a difficult decision needs to be made unless we get a much bigger uptake 🙂 Everyone will be notified of the final decision via J2E on Monday 

Our Year 6 roles and responsibilities have now been distributed and children have been informed.  We look forward to watching you develop your roles and independence over the coming months 

• Year 4 are making good progress with their swimming 

• We celebrated World Languages Day on Monday with a whole school assembly followed by lots of lovely activities within the classroom 🙂

• Year 2 and Year 1 enjoyed a reflective calming down session with our X-hail exploring our emotions 🙂 They went on an adventure into space and imagined they saw an astronaut, a rocket, a crescent moon, a planet for their belly breathing, the sun and finally shooting stars.  They finished with some superhero poses and a relaxation under our 'superhero cape'. A beautiful end to a Tuesday 🙂

• A massive shout out to our Reception parents who joined us for our first EYFS coffee morning of the year.   It was lovely to see you all with your little ones and spend such valuable time finding out about our amazing EYFS reading provision 🙂 Thanks to those who have taken the time to fill out our questionnaire – it’s lovely to hear how your children have settled and also how useful you found the information session 

• Forest Schools was enjoyable for all in the sun for both Reception and Year 4 classes.  Reception familiarised themselves with the rules of Forest Schools and also our amazing forest school space.  Year 4 spent the morning looking at food chains linked to the Science Topic.   A great enrichment session to complement our curriculum 

• Our Parents Evening was a lovely evening for you all to meet and have a catch up with class teacher and discuss how your child has settled.  We hope you found the evening useful and got a flavour in the books you saw of all the different things your child has been doing over the last few weeks

• Friends of FL would like to say a big thank you for all those who have attended our Macmillian Coffee Morning - we will let you know how much we have raised for this very worthy charity 🙂

Looking ahead to next week: - 

A reminder that the COLOUR RUN is next Wednesday 30^th September (separate letter sent).  Strict cut off on Monday 28^th September at 4pm.  This gives us chance to sort out registers and siblings’ registers to make sure the event runs smoothly.    All children need to be accompanied by an adult who is either doing the race or spectating.  This is a requirement by the company running the race.   After the race all children must leave site as you won't be allowed back in school as they will be covered in paint!!  🙂 School site will remain secure between each race so please report to the hall 10 mins before your child's race is due to start otherwise you will miss the start of the race. 

Those children not taking part in the colour run will remain in class for the afternoon and be collected at normal finish time of 3.15pm 

• Year 4 swimming as normal on Monday 

• Forest Schools Year 4 in the morning and Reception in the afternoon - children need to come in old clothes and bring a change of wellies or sturdy footwear (part 2)

• X-hail on Tuesday will be Year 6 & Year 1 - let’s see where their journey takes them this week 🙂

• Colour Run - Wednesday 30^th September - those children who are doing the colour run need to wear a white t-shirt and non-unform - wear old clothes which you don't mind getting covered in paint!!  All children taking part must be accompanied by an adult.   Adults to come to the hall initially to be registered and united with your child/children.  After the run, parents and children will leave site in readiness for the next race.  Multiple siblings in the same family will all run in the same race.  

Those children not taking part in the colour run to come to school IN NORMAL SCHOOL UNIFORM 

• Year 1 Phonics Workshop for parents @ 9am on Thursday.  Please report to Reception.  A reminder we are a no mobile school.  Please leave them at home. 

• Our EYFS Open Evening for September 2027 starters will run from 3.45pm - 6pm.  If you have any family friends who are looking for a Reception place next September please do spread the word 🙂

• SEN coffee morning at 9am on Friday 2^nd October in our library - free drinks and a biscuit - a lovely group of parents discussing all things SEN 🙂 we have such positive comments about this group - why not come along? 🙂 

• It's our HARVEST FESTIVAL assembly on Friday 2^nd October (children only) - a separate letter has gone out with additional details on this and when produce for our Harvest Table needs to be in school.  All food to be sent to Rising Brook Church to help our local community.
