Weekly Summary 11th September 2026

A very busy first full week back at school 🙂

SAVE THE DATE - WHOLE SCHOOL COLOUR RUN - WEDNESDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER - more details to follow

Our Whole School Assembly on Monday focused on New Beginnings and introduced different character strengths which relate to our MY HAPPY MIND 🙂

Year 3 have all passed their Road Safety with flying colours - they have completed a walk from school remembering how to keep themselves and others safe - we are super proud of their achievements.

A big shout out to our parent volunteers who braved a rather cool morning standing on street corners to encourage and guide the children around the walk.

Year 1 also had a visit from the Road Safety Team on Tuesday afternoon.   They learnt how to wear their seat belt correctly and watched the Humpty Dumpty experiment which focused on the importance of wearing a seat belt when travelling.

Year 4 amazed Mrs Locke and I during our first swimming lesson.  The first week is always about 'assessing' who can and can't swim so children spend limited time in the water - however, the groups are now sorted so our first full swimming lesson will commence next week.

A polite reminder that NO JEWELLERY is to be worn at all and anyone with medium or long hair need to bring a swimming cap - rules of the Swimming Pool.

On Tuesday, Year 4, 5 & 6 had a special assembly from our Mental Health Team, Chloe and Danni.

They introduced our 'Happiness Heroes' and explained this was a special role in school to support and help with our Happy Minds/Inclusion agenda.

All children from Year 4, 5 & 6 have been invited to apply for these amazing positions and have taken home an application form.  Training will be given to those children who are selected.

Year 5 & 6 had their first X-hail Meditation session on Tuesday afternoon.  They looked at how they could use their movements and breath to help slow down to focus, to calm and slow down.  Pupils also discussed the transitions into their new year groups and what qualities they all had to help us to navigate change.  These sessions are part of our Wellbeing/Inclusion Offer 🙂

Year 1 spent all day over at Forest School on Tuesday covering all things MATERIALS - part of their Science Topic.

Wednesday was the launch of our MY HAPPY MIND - all children will take part in a weekly class lesson/assembly taking about how to deal with their emotions and learn to understand our brain.  Watch this space as we will be launching a Parents Portal very soon with lots of resources for you to access at school.

At the end of each session in school, children complete their own individual journal reflecting on their 'My Happy Minds' journey.   Why not ask your child about this?

Progressive Sports was unfortunately cancelled at very short notice - this was out of our control.

Year 6 ended the week with their keyboard lessons which will continue until the end of October.

So looking ahead to next week: -
