Weekly Summary 10 July 2026

Our last full week until we start the Summer Break!!  🎉🎉🎉

Another very hot one!!!

Many thanks to everyone who came along and supported our Art Exhibition and our Mini Summer Fayre.   It was a mighty hot event!!

As always, the money raised will go directly back into school to purchase much needed equipment and resources for our pupils.

Our Friends of FL are also looking at organising a Colour Run in September - so keep your eyes peeled for more info 🙂

As always, thanks to those parents who volunteered to run the stalls this year - without your support events like this wouldn't happen!!

Our final ERIC sessions of this academic year have now finished - we hope you all enjoyed this precious time to enjoy a book together - these sessions will continue into the new academic year.   We will be re-looking at KS2 ERIC as this wasn't as popular.

Our Choir spent a lovely afternoon entertaining our local community over at Rising Brook Church on Wednesday - everyone had a great time.  Thanks to Mr Davies for working with the children during lunchtime each week to get them up to speed 🙂 Over 60 local community members enjoyed this beautiful experience x

On Thursday Year 5 completed their Science Lesson over at Stafford Manor.  An educational afternoon which has extended their science knowledge.  Thanks to Stafford Manor for inviting us over.  More to look forward to next year.

We celebrated our Year 6 leavers on Thursday evening.  It was a fantastic celebration of what everyone has achieved since starting at Flash Ley and looking ahead to the next stage of their learning journey - onward and upward - Year 6 - Fly High and make yourselves proud!!

Don't forget Reports have been issued today which reflect your child's education and journey over the last year.  If you have any questions in relation to the reports, then Class Teachers are available on Monday after school from 3.30pm - 4pm.

The staffing letter for next year was issued at the beginning of the week which contained class teacher information for September.

Looking ahead to next week: -

Year 6 children to bring a white shirt to school on Monday for 'shirt signing' - this will be done on Monday as we are busy for the rest of the week 🙂 doing all things 'fun'

PE Kits on Monday through to Wednesday so that you can wash and pack away school uniform in readiness for September.  Cress as yourself Day on Thursday - Football kits are allowed on this day 🙂

Normal menu on Monday, Picnic Grab Bags on Tuesday, Chippy Lunch on Wednesday and Picnic Grab Bags on Thursday - all payable via ParentPay 🙂

EYFS Celebration Morning @ 9am - 10am - a separate letter has been issued.  Please remember to leave your mobile phone at home 🙂 All parents are invited to this event

Year 6 Leavers Lunch on Monday - they have selected the food options - please pay for your child's meal via ParentPay

Monday @ 3.30pm - 4pm - a chance to ask any questions regarding your Child's Report 🙂

Monday/Tuesday - Our Year 1 and 2 children have the opportunity to participate in 'mendi hand painting' which is being done by one of our lovely parents 🙂 A separate letter has gone out as we need consent and payment for pupils to be involved in this

Tuesday it's the turn of our KS1 celebration assembly @ 9am - all Year 1 and Year 2 parents are invited.  If your child is having an award, a letter is on its way to you.

It's our Transition Afternoon on Tuesday.  Children will spend a fun filled afternoon with their new class teacher - this will hopefully steady the nerves for September.  Children are so very resilient and 'get on' with elements of change, it's often parents who struggle more.  A transition leaflet will be issued after the session with lots of useful information to make the new academic year go really smoothly.

On Wednesday we have our CARNIVAL DAY for all pupils - lovely activities planned, we just need nice weather now!!  See poster for more information that was posted via facebook and on J2E.

Chippy Shop Lunch on this day as well - poster advertised with the lovely menu on J2E and facebook.  We also have ice-creams for everyone as well 🙂 Donation towards the ice-cream in exchange for non-uniform on Thursday.  Please bring pennies for ice-cream on Wednesday.   The ice-cream van will be Wednesday not Thursday as advertised on Term Dates

Finally, the very LAST DAY OF TERM (Thursday)

Year 3, 4 and 5 have their Celebration Assembly on Thursday at 9am - if your child has an award, you would have received a letter by now - fingers crossed.  All Year 3, 4 and 5 parents are invited to this assembly if you so wish.  Leave mobile phones at home though pls.

We finish a truly fantastic week with a Music Concert for everyone at 10.45am - to end the academic year with a 'bang' 🙂 This is free to everyone

Children will be ready on Thursday from 3pm for a slightly earlier collection if you so wish, but normal collection at 3.15pm is absolutely fine also.  Please note: - Year 6s walking home alone will NOT be released until 3.15pm

FRIDAY is INSET DAY - School is closed to all pupils.

And that's your lot - now time to enjoy the weekend - weather is looking great 🙂

Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂
