Weekly Summary 3 July 2026
What a week!!!!
Lots of happy children and families coming together to share precious moments 🙂 The children were fantastic! The grown ups did well too!! 🌞
With the hot weather setting to continue, our whole school assembly on Monday was focussed around 'wafer safety' to ensure we all stay safe whilst enjoying ourselves 🌞
The highlights of this week:-
*Year 4 had their last swimming lesson - they have now completed their course - well done to everyone - great progress has been made 🏊
*Year 6 spent valuable time on Monday with the Mental Health discussing 'high school transition' 🌞
*Sports Day was enjoyable and we had lovely comments from our parents about it being the 'best event of the year'. The sun shone until right at the very end and we all took advantage of the ice -cream van at the end of the day. A massive 'thank you' for your support particularly straight after the KS1 sports session.
*Several High School Transitions have taken place this week - all very exciting and a crucial part of a smooth transition
*Wednesday Reception children had a lovely afternoon learning the art of 'multi-skills' - lots of giggles and happy faces 🙂
*Year 2 continued exploring their feelings through their weekly 'mood bears' session - last week next week
*Year 5 had a very 'hands on' science lesson over at Stafford Manor to enhance their Science learning further
*Forest Schools were outside this week making the most of the 'great british weather'. Topic learning was further enhanced for both Year 3 and Year 5.
Please note:- the Year 6 Leavers Assembly Letter has been issued this week - keep your eyes peeled - maximum 3 tickets per family 🙂
Looking ahead to the week ahead:-
It's a busy one now right up until we finish for the Summer so hold on to your hats 🙂
*'Early Help' Family Support Coffee Morning from 9am on Tuesday - come along to see all the amazing services available and a cuppa
*Choir going over to Rising Brook Church on Tuesday - a separate letter has been sent via this to relevant children
*Art Exhibition on Tuesday @ 3.30pm - 4pm in the hall. Children's artwork on sale - all proceeds to school fund to benefit all children who attend Flash Ley
*ERIC for KS2 (Year 3 - 6) on Wednesday @ 8.30am - 9am - an opportunity to share a book with your child 🙂 one parent per family and leave mobile phones at home pls
*Progressive Sports on Wednesday is our Year 6 Superstars 🙂 PE Kits to be worn pls (leggings) as we have the return of the skateboard!!!
*Our Summer Fayre is on Wednesday - 2.30pm - 3.30pm (smaller version than normal) as it's being run entirely by our lovely Friends Of FL 🙂 So we are opening school gates at 2.20pm until 2.35pm so that you can collect your child early to go to the fayre. Those attending the school fayre need to be collected by parents between these times from the normal doors and then make your way to the hall ready to spend your pennies at the fayre 🙂
At 2.35pm prompt - the gate will be locked and remain so until the normal finish time of 3.15pm. Those children not collected to go to the fayre between these times will stay in class until the end of the school day (3.15pm). There will then be time to visit the fayre at normal pick up.
Year 6 who walk home alone will be released at the normal finish time of 3.15pm unless collected by an adult at 2.20pm to visit the fayre.
A poster has been issued with all the different stalls and of course the ice-cream van/bouncy castle 🙂
This time/idea has been requested by lots of parents so we are trialling it to see how it goes.
*Year 5 are at Stafford Manor on Thursday afternoon for their final afternoon of Science 🙂
*Year 2 are having their final session of Mood Bears on Thursday
*The final Forest Schools Session is on Thursday -Reception all morning and Year 6 all afternoon - old clothes and a change of sturdy shoes please
*Year 6 Leavers Assembly on Thursday @ 5pm - 6pm - details in separate letter - do not turn up unless you have a ticket - Year 6 families only invited. maximum 3 tickets per family due to capacity of the school hall
*Reports out on Friday along with information re:- class arrangements in September 2026 and who will be with us and who is moving on 🙂
*ERIC for EYFS/KS1 @ 8.30am on Friday - one last chance to read with your child before the Summer Break
