So, this week looked a bit like this: -
So, we started the week with our Space Camp. We didn't get to see any 'stars' but we certainly extended our knowledge of 'Space' with lots of interactive activities and our 2 special guests who knew lots and lots about Space.
A heartfelt 'thank you' to Mr Davies, Mr Atkinson, Mrs King and Mr Tuach who supported the event. Events like this are amazing for our FL family but wouldn't be possible unless staff volunteered and went above and beyond in their own time. Thanks to you all 🙂
- It was lovely to welcome our Year 4 parents into school for yet another of our very successful and popular School Council Brekkie events. The children really do love having you in school and having a catch up and sharing all things FL. Look out for more of these events over the Summer Term 🙂
- Our Year 4 Camp Information Session was well supported by parents whose children are venturing off to camp. We hope the information given helps you to prepare over the next few weeks to make the whole experience far less stressful and daunting for you all. If you have any further questions or queries, do shout out as we are more than happy to help you in whatever way we can 🙂
- Reception continued to refine and develop their boxing skills in Progressive Sports. We could hear lots of giggles through the hall doors 🤣🤣
- Our Mindfulness Ninjas have continued with their Zen like thoughts and strategies to stay calm when things get a little too much. It's lovely to hear them chatting away about their breathing techniques after the session - truly beautiful - it's the little things sometimes ♥️♥️. This week they talked about how their breath impacts their nervous system. Last week the children requested making their own set of "lungs' so this is exactly what they did!!! How exciting!!! Much fun was had 🌞
- On Thursday we had a great day celebrating World Book Day - everyone looked amazing in their costumes and Mrs Slade Nowell starting off the morning with a wonderful whole school assembly. Children then took to character within their literacy lesson to produce a lovely piece of written work. It was lovely to hear the buzz around school and see the love of reading' radiant around Flash Ley 📚
- We also launched our 'handwriting competition' in our World Book Day Assembly. Many prizes to be won, so get writing 🎉🎉(details for this have been sent out separately)
- Year 3 spent the morning over at Forest School enhancing their 'curriculum learning' of the Stone Age. Activities included - making spears, experimented different ways to light a fire, made bread then finishes with a spear throwing competition.
- Year 2 spent the afternoon learning about all things 'animals and their habitats' exploring how all living things reproduce and require air, water, food and shelter to survive. They also investigated how animals are grouped based on their characteristics, behaviour, diet, habitats and lifecycles.
Moving to next week: -
- EYFS Farm Day is coming to FLASH LEY - You won't believe the animals that are going to spend the day with us🐷🎠 Excited dot com. If you've not already paid, please do so via PARENTPAY 🙂 More details sent separately on J2E.
- Year 4 Swimming as normal on Monday afternoon - a polite reminder all jewellery must stay at home
- Progressive Sports is the turn of Year 3 on Wednesday - children can come to school in their PE Kits 🙂
- Forest Schools on Thursday is the turn of Year 5 (in the morning) and Year 4 (in the afternoon). Children must come into school in old, warm clothes and a change of sturdy footwear as it's still pretty muddy out there 🙂
- It's our first Mother’s Day Brekkie Event on Wednesday 11th March and Thursday 12th March @ 9am. The closing date for this has now gone. We look forward to welcoming you into school for a catch up and natter 🙂
- Friday 13th March is PHOTO DAY - so all children to come to school in their SCHOOL UNIFORM so they look extremely smart for their photographs. Please note: - photos are for children who attend FL school and not any younger siblings due to time constraints of our photographer. These photos will be taken during the school day (before lunch) so that we all look our very best 🙂
And that's your lot - have a lovey weekend - let's hope this lovely dry, sunny weather continues so we can all get out and about filling our lungs with some beautiful fresh air.
Have fun in the sun everyone 🙂
Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂
