Weekly Summary 13 February 2026

We made it to half-term!!! Hopefully, we will get a few dry days over the break 🙂

Our Nursery and Reception flooring has now been completed - keep your eyes peeled for photos of our lovely new classrooms - they look amazing

I'm pleased to announce that 'Leigh Shaw' will be joining our Governing Body at the beginning of March.   Congratulations and we are very excited to welcome you to our first meeting 🙂

A massive 'thank you' to everyone who came along to our book fayre - we raised £764.81 so that means we will have £300 worth of new books for our library and classrooms 🙂 Our reading ambassadors will help Mrs Slade Nowell choose lots of new books.

We have had lots of new families join our FL family over the last few weeks.  It is so lovely to watch new friendships grow! 🙂

A polite reminder that the start of the school day is 8.40am for an 8.45am start to lessons.  Too many children are arriving late and missing either their phonics input for the day or maths meetings.  These are crucial and set your child up for a calm, purposeful day.

Moving forward, our CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY INVITATION LETTERS will now be sent via J2E.  We are getting too many issues with our Royal 'Snail' and parents not receiving the letters in time, even though they are posted each Friday lunchtime for the following week.  So straight after half-term, invites will be sent only via J2E.  🙂

So, this week looked a bit like this: -

  • We started the week with an E-Safety Whole School Assembly about keeping safe on-line and Al!! 🙂
  • Year 4 swimming - more children using less buoyancy aids 🙂
  • Year 3, 5 & 6 Watch Me Learn Sessions were well attended.  Thanks to those of you who joined us.  It was lovely to see so many of you - we hope you enjoyed it too
  • Year 1 enjoyed their boxing session with Progressive Sports 🙂
  • Our mindfulness ninjas focused on how the brain works in terms of keeping us safe and utilising the 'smart part’ of our brain (the pre frontal cortex) - these sessions will continue after the half-term break
  • Year 5 & Year 3 enjoyed their session over at Forest Schools enhancing their topic learning
  • ERIC ended the week with lots of parents starting off a Friday morning by sharing a book in school - thanks to those who came in, it was lovely to see so many of you.   Lots of comments in relation to the new timing of the session and format.
  • Everyone enjoyed our Disco Bounce on Friday - a reminder that if you haven't already paid, please do so via Parent Pay.  We had lots of sweaty, red faces but everyone had so much fun - lots of happy, smiling faces to end the term.  Just a shame about the weather!!

Looking ahead to the 1st week back after half term: -

  • Year 4 swimming on Monday as normal
  • EYFS Phonics Watch Me Learn (a separate letter has been sent with further details) - Tuesday 24th February @ 9am - report to main Reception - STRICTLY NO PHONES
  • After School Clubs as normal this week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  Prompt collection at 4pm.   It's the last week NEXT WEEK 🙂
  • Progressive Sports is the turn of Year 5 on Wednesday 25th February (PE kits can be worn on this day)
  • Forest Schools is the turn of Reception in the morning and Year 6 in the afternoon (old, warm clothes and a change of footwear essential as it's now quite muddy over there).
  • Year 4 Watch Me Learn and Parents Information Session on Multiplication Times Check on Thursday @ 9am (one parent per family only due to limited space in the classroom) Strictly NO MOBILE PHONES.  After the Watch Me Learn there will be a short information session for parents around the Multiplication Check Screening which takes place in June 2026.

Have a super half-term break - relax and recharge the batteries 🙂

See you all on Monday 23rd February @ 8.35am
