Weekly Summary 30 January 2026
Another cracking week!
Lots of learning and memories being made π We love our amazing FL community π
The end of the week when we were recognised for our amazing outcomes for our data for disadvantaged making us one of the very few schools in Staffordshire to be amongst the highest nationally - a significant achievement!! One last shout out to our amazing FL community - it really is an impressive achievement π Years of hard work finally recognised.
Work has started on refurbishing the KS2 Girls Toilets. Everything has been ripped out and installation of new has startedπ Hopefully this work will be finished by Half Term. This work has been fully funded by Staffs County Council.
A final reminder - it's not too late to donate to TEDDY's KATHERINE HOUSE HOSPICE fundraising - throw in a few quid if you can - he's done absolutely amazing - we are all so very proud π An amazing achievement!
So, our amazing School Council have now decided on a 'theme' for our Non-Uniform Day on Friday 27th March. Votes were either 'Crazy Hair Day' or 'Dress as a Prince or Princess' so we are going to go with BOTH so that we accommodate those children who love dressing up or those who like a 'wear your own clothes' with Crazy Hair - start planning those amazing costumes π
Another date to add to your diary: -
Year 4 School Council Brekkie & Coffee Morning om Tuesday 3rd March @ 9am - 9.30am - more details to follow
Keep your eyes peeled for the 'Valentine Disco Bounce' letter which has gone out today π
So, this week looked a bit like this: -
- Year 4 swimmers are making really good progress and using less buoyancy aids π
- We held a whole school assembly on Tuesday to celebrate National Story Telling Week - we were transported into a magical world of books and used our imaginations to bring the story to life π
- Our Parents Forum had a very productive meeting on Tuesday and gave positive feedback about all aspects of school life - a big thank you to those parents who took time out of their busy day to attend and share ideas/thoughts π If you would like to join the next meeting in Summer Term, please do let either myself or Mrs Locke know
- Year 2 enjoyed their boxing experience on Wednesday - they were super focused and dodged/weaved beautifully
- Year 2 also had a lovely day over at Forest School enhancing their curriculum learning. They burnt their 'Great Fire of London' Houses and then covered elements of the science topic - Animals including Humans
- After School clubs have now begun - a reminder that clubs finish promptly at 4pm and run for 5 weeks in total π
- Our mindfulness Ninjas had their second session on Wednesday and focused on naming our emotions. Children were encouraged to likened their emotions to fish in a pond, we can watch them and choose to let them go. The session ended with a meditation where we all focused on what our emotions look like, imaging we were the pond π
- Mrs Sargeant also started her 'mindfulness' group on Thursday after requests from several children. They focused on different breathing techniques. They explored how to use their emotions to do a full body scan to release any worries from the day or week. A sense of calm and happiness was experienced by all π
- We finished a very busy week with our NON-UNIFORM DAY to support a charity very close to our FL family - Katherine House Hospice π We have raised an amazing £339.00. This has been added to Teddy's 'Go Fund Me' from his FL family.
