Weekly Summary 18 September 2026
Another fun filled week 🙂
An important request for Nursery parents collecting at 11.45am.
Please DO NOT prop the blue gate open. We are a secure site and if you prop the gate open then WE ARE NOT!!
We pride ourselves on keeping our Flash Ley family safe. We appreciate your support in making sure everyone stays safe.
Our Friends of Flash Ley are holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 24th September in our Library from 9am - 11am - please do come along for a cuppa and slice of cake and help raise funds for this charity that is so close to all of our hearts
Parents Evening Letters were issued on Monday of this week - please return as soon as possible to secure your appointment for next Thursday. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's class teacher, have a look at their English and Maths Books and find out how they have settled into their new classes along with targets they are currently working on
Our Happiness Heroes have now been selected and will receive training in the coming weeks on this exciting new role as part of our Happy Minds Initiative linked to our Inclusion Offer to our pupils 🎉 watch this space for lots of exciting news x
Our Friends of FL Colour Run has been postponed - letter has gone out so that you can now book - parents and children welcome to join in the fun 🙂 Children who are taking part in the colour run can wear non uniform (white t-shirt) on the day and must bring either sunglasses or goggles to wear for the run. Those children not taking part come to school in their normal school uniform and will stay in their classrooms until the end of the school day (3.15pm) and be released at normal time.
NEW DATE IS WEDNESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER (afternoon onwards). All children need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult to complete the Colour Run.
If you have child in several classes wanting to complete the Colour Run - then we will make sure they all run at the same time with the adult accompanying them,
So, this week looked a bit like this: -
- Our whole school assembly this week focused on 'people we can trust' and continued the theme of new beginnings and feeling/emotions around the new academic year 🙂
- Year 4 went swimming and both Mrs Locke and I were super impressed by their independence and confidence in the water - well done 🙂
- Our Mental Health Lunchtime Drop In was a massive success - so many children accessed this provision which was absolutely fantastic. Another date will be advertised shortly
- Our Parents Forum met on Tuesday morning with Mrs Locke to talk about how the start of the new academic year has gone - lots of positive comments and very happy parents and children 🙂 Thanks to those parents who took time out of their busy schedule to come along and support this little group of parents
- Forest School was the turn of both Year 3 and Year 5 this week 🙂
- Our weekly X-hail meditation was enjoyed by Year 4 and Year 3 this week - the main focus was upon recognising our emotions and how we can calm ourselves down when we need to with our breathing techniques. They also chose a character strength that they wanted to see more of during the school day.
- Year 6 had a visit from Stafford Manor on Wednesday afternoon discussing all things 'High School'. Pupils had the opportunity to ask questions and meet key staff from Stafford Manor including Mr Adams 🌞
- Our Happiness Heroes have been chosen and will commence their training on their new role in October - so watch this space - exciting things to come 🙂
- We ended the week by raising money for GENES FOR JEANS by coming into school in Jeans and our school uniform. A big thank you to everyone who donated to this worthy charity. Once we have counted all the money, we will let you know how much money we have raised 🙂
