Weekly Summary 4th September 2026
Welcome back to the academic year!!
Everyone looked really smart, ready to meet new classmates and engage in lots of learning with their new class teachers 🙂 It was so lovely to hear the buzz of learning along the corridors and also to hear what you've all been up to over the Summer break.
We have a few new staff members I'd like to introduce you to: -
- Miss Mistry is supporting Year 4
- Miss Terry is supporting Year 3 & Year 5
- Miss Feeney is supporting Year 5
- Mrs Coulman is supporting Nursery
- Miss James is supporting Year 1, 2 and Year 4
All class teachers remain the same
Class Newsletters have been issued from Year 1 - Year 6 today (paper copies) until we move everyone's J2E account to the new year group. Communication via J2E will commence next week 🙂
For our new parents, keep your eyes peeled for your J2E log in - this is an online APP which is our main communication to you all - so please do download it as soon as you get your details. This weekly summary is also sent via J2E so that you can prepare for the week ahead and are aware of all the exciting things that are happening and taking place in school.
KS2 experienced their first WOW experience of the year engaging with Mini Medics going over basic first aid. Everyone was fully engaged and enjoyed the practical session.
You may have seen the new sign for 'Castle Pathways School'. This is not linked to Flash Ley Primary School at all and will not affect the day to day running or leadership and management of our school. They are renting space from us which has helped greatly with our financial situation which is an added bonus.
A reminder that our VOYAGE PROVISION is closed on Wednesday 9th September from 3.15pm as ALL staff have our ALLERGY TRAINING straight after school. We ask that all children are collected promptly at 3.15pm.
Looking ahead to next week: -
- Year 4 swimming on Monday - see separate letter that has been issued
- Year 3 have their Road Safety Awareness on Monday/Tuesday (Stepping Out) - everyone has received a letter in relation to this
- Thanks to those parents who have kindly offered to help out on the Tuesday - please report to the School Office at around 10.15am
- FOREST SCHOOLS IS NOW TUESDAY - it is the turn of YEAR 1 this week - children to come to school in old clothes, a change of footwear and a waterproof coat as they will be outside for most of the day
- Year 5 & Year 6 have a new addition to their timetable this week - X-hail mediation and relaxation on Tuesday afternoon for 50 mins each. This is a key part of our Wellbeing and Inclusion Enhanced Provision. Classes will take it in turns to access this amazing session
- Progressive Sports is the turn of Reception this week on Wednesday afternoon. Children can come to school on this day in their PE kits 🙂
- Year 6 have keyboards each Friday afternoon this half term as part of our WOW experiences offering 🙂
Finally, we are launching our 'MY HAPPY MIND' initiative next week. We have a whole school assembly on Monday (children only) then our HAPPINESS HEROES ASSEMBLY for KS2 on Tuesday. More on this exciting initiative in the coming weeks. It's part of our Wellbeing and Inclusion Offer to all children who attend Flash Ley.
And that's your lot
Have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the sunny weather and make precious memories
Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂
