Weekly Summary 24 April 2026
Another very productive and busy week for everyone at FL.
We have had several concerned parents in relation to DANGEROUS PARKING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL!! A small number of parents are ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF CHILDREN COMING TO AND FROM SCHOOL. This needs to stop. If you see anyone parking dangerously, please let us know so that we can contact the Police. Parents are tired of it!
The 'bucket challenge is gaining momentum' and we can safely say that after Week One, Year 3 most definitely have the most coins (silver ones may I add) in their bucket!! A few more weeks left yet - keep going - dig deep! 🪎🪎🪎💰💰💰💰
Classes have now decided what their 'treat' will be if they collect the most 🙂 The money will go towards new I-pads for the WHOLE SCHOOL and hopefully if we get enough, a COLOUR RUN - woo hoo x
- We started the week with our Year 1 Phonics Information Session for parents - it was lovely to see so many of you supporting your child's learning. We hope you found the information given and shared useful.
- A very good turnout for our termly Parents Forum - very productive meeting again talking everything 'strategic' 🙂
- Year 5 & 6 Girls' Football Team represented FL on Monday - a big shout out to Miss Young, Mr Davies and our parent supporters. Everyone played to the best of their ability - well done 🙂
- Year 4 survived CAMP - loads of pictures of their adventures on our Facebook page. Thanks to Mrs Slade-Nowell and Mrs Sargeant who supervised the trip. A shower and much needed sleep this weekend 🙂 The weather was absolutely amazing - hopefully it will continue into the weekend
- Year 3 enjoyed Progressive Sports and took well to the 'skateboarding'. They also had a lovely warm, sunny day over at Forest Schools 🙂
- Miss Young and her Dance Gang spent the evening over at the Gatehouse on Thursday evening. A massive 'thank you' to Mrs Locke and Mrs Wileman who also helped out. They were all absolutely amazing, their costumes were awesome and a great evening was had by all. Thanks for everyone who supported us. More details on facebook 🙂 We've already booked our slot for next year 😅
- We ended an action-packed week with our SEN Coffee Morning. A lovely discussion around supporting children who are taking compulsory 'tests' in the coming weeks
Looking ahead to next week: -
- Year 4 Swimming as normal on Monday afternoon
- Wednesday is the turn of 'Year 2' to have 'skateboarding' for our enrichment activity with Progressive Sports - children can come to school in their PE kit
- Thursday 'Year 4' will spend an action-packed day out at Forest Schools - old clothes and a change of footwear essential 🙂
Friends of FL in conjunction with our Parents Forum (a force not to be reckoned with) 😂🤣 are going to be running a 'poster competition' to be done at home for those children who wish to, around 'parking appropriately and keeping us all safe on our way to and from school'.
As mentioned above, sadly a few of our parents feel it's ok to put our children's lives at risk by parking on the grass verge directly outside of school, reversing onto the pavement when turning round and not adhering to the speed limit along Hawksmoor Road - it is quite literally an accident waiting to happen!!
J2E reminders were sent out on Tuesday after our Parents Forum but then 2 parents continued to still park inconsiderately at the end of the school day. They have been spoken to in relation to this.
SO, keep your eyes peeled for our Friends of FL poster competition.
And that's your lot 🙂
Enjoy the beautiful warm, sunny weather forecast this weekend. Get out and about and do what makes you happy 🙂
ee you all on Monday
Mrs B and the FL Team
PS: - Summer Dates have been issued via J2E this week. They are also on our website and school calendar for your information.
We've reduced the number of parental events this term, as feedback from you all was that there were too many events for parents last term (particularly our working parents) 🙂😂🤣😂
