Weekly Summary 27 March 2026
We made it to the Easter Break!!!!
We have many families who are arriving at school 'late'. This results in your child missing valuable learning time and is totally unacceptable. We understand if it's a 'one off' but we have families who are consistently late, day after day, week after week. Lates are being recorded and will result eventually in a penalty notice being issued by Staffordshire County Council. In KS1/EYFS phonics is the first job of the day, if your child is late then they miss their phonics session for the day. We will be focusing as a school on reducing 'lateness' in Summer Term.
A reminder to our relatively new families who are interested in our wraparound Voyage Provision. We now have a waiting list for September 2026. A reminder that spaces are for regular weekly sessions only as we are unable to work on an ad-hoc basis as we simply couldn't accommodate the current need!!!
Thanks for your continued support and understanding - it's lovely for us to be so busy!! We are full to capacity until at least September - a nice problem to have 🌞
Our new Voyage OFSTED will be issued after Easter - it's egg-cellent 🎉🎉 We can't wait to share it with our FL family and community. So many lovely comments in relation to our amazing provision - keep your eyes peeled x
A great productive week yet again 🙂 We made the most of the lovely weather at the beginning of the week by eating our sandwiches outside on our lovely colourful benches 🙂 Hopefully after Easter we can make use of the field more 🤞🤞
Thanks to everyone for supporting our Chocolate Tombola on Monday after school. I can't believe how quickly we ran out of eggs. Final total a staggering £186. A big thank you to our parent helpers who stayed to man the tombola for us. Very much appreciated 🙂 and for everyone who donated chocolate eggs 🐣
A big 'shout' out to Year 1, 2 & 3 parents who came this week to decorate the Easter Bonnets - they all looked amazing 🙂
Year 4 enjoyed their afternoon of enrichment activities with Progressive Sports - we move onto a different sport after Easter
On Wednesday Miss Young and Mrs Aldridge took a group of children for the Sport 4 All activity. See our Facebook post for more details. Well done to you and thank you to staff and volunteers who made this event possible 🎉
Reception and Year 2 had great fun and a very productive session over at Forest Schools
Our Easter Bonnet Parade was delightful so many lovely creations and a lot more children took part - which is amazing and what we wanted 🙂 It was a very difficult task for our House Captains who had the very important job of 'choosing our winners' from each house.
Our winners from each house were: -
- Stephanie (Year 1)
- Alesia (Year 6)
- Ameliah (Year 2)
The overall winner was Stephanie (Year 1) This meant that our Spring Interhouse Competition was won by CASTLE - well done everyone
Well done to everyone who entered and created so many wonderful Easter Bonnets 🐰🐥
We ended a wonderful half term with our School Council Non-Uniform Day. We had some beautiful princesses, very handsome princes and some crazy hair styles. We'll let you know how much we raised after the Easter Break. This is going into our School Council Pot of Gold Fund.
So, looking ahead to the first week back so you can all get prepared: -
Monday - Swimming Year 4
Wednesday - Year 5 Progressive Sports - children can come to school in their PE kit. It's the return of SKATEBOARDING!!
Thursday - Year 5 Forest Schools - children to come to school in old appropriate clothing (for the weather) and a change of sturdy footwear 🙂
Our new fortnightly menu has landed with the introduction of sandwiches for the warmer weather 🤞🤞. Menus have been sent via J2E and Facebook. If you require a paper copy, pop into the office and we can get one for you.
A reminder to start collecting any 'loose change' for our Friends of FL Fundraising Challenge'. It starts on Monday 13th April - so get collecting and get the whole family involved - the winning class will have a 'treat' at the end of the challenge - the treat is under non-negotiation with classes and the Boss 🙂
So now it's time to enjoy a few cheeky lie-ins, relax and have fun over the Easter Break
We'll see you all on Monday 13th April @ 8.35am.
Thanks for your continued support, we have achieved so much this term - it's been full of fun, laughter, learning and so much more.
Mrs B and the FL Team 🙂
