This term, the children will be learning about The Royal Family, both current and in the past.
They will learn about the life and influence of Elizabeth I, including the Spanish Armada, as well as exploring other aspects of Tudor life.
They will also learn about later monarchs including our Queen today, and they will find out about the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Our trip this half term will be to Boscobel House, the famous hiding place of King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester.
The Royal Wedding
On Friday the 18th May the whole of Flash Ley went out onto the field to celebrate the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. We had great fun, eating cake and biscuits, playing a giant pass the parcel and having a little dance.
On Tuesday 22nd May, Year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to learn and play chess. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
As a part of our topic, conservation, on the 23rd of January the whole of year 5 participated in the annual RSBP bird watch. Here are a few pictures...
This term the children will be learning about conservation.
They will be learning about the various types of pollution and ways in which the world is being damaged.
They will then learn about the measures that are taken to preserve the world and its environment.
This term the children are learning about Ancient Egypt. Have a look at the canopic jars we have made.
First, we made a clay head and moulded it on to a Pringle tube.
Then, we covered the whole tube and head with modroc.
Next, we painted the jars and, when they were dry, we put the features on.
We will be visiting Birmingham Museum on Thursday 23rd November.
Below are some useful websites about Ancient Egypt to share with your child.
