Flash
Ley Community Primary School, Nursery and Speech and Language Centre
THE WAY WE WERE
A school was first opened on the Flash Ley site on 11th
September 1951. There was an infant school on the site of the present
primary school and the junior school was on the part of the campus now
occupied by the Flash Ley Resource Centre. A middle school was opened
on the present site in 1980 but then reverted to a primary school in 1988.
We have
some pictures from the 1950s and 1960s

The
last picture carried the date 1952 and the word 'Connector' (the name of the construction kit
the boys were using).

A picture of the
school before the new office block. 'B' Block, 'C' and 'D' Blocks were built
ready for the school to open as a Middle School in 1980. There were
two school halls then, the nearest one used by infants and the furthest one
used by the juniors.
