Reading Workshop with Parents

Please see links below to how phonics supports your child's reading and writing. There is also a link to the workshop given on the Read, Write Inc scheme we are using in school to enhance phonics and reading both in school and at home.

Phonics are very important in year 1 as we have the phonics test set by the Government later in the year. Here is a link to support your child with the was the phonemes are pronounced.

When reading any text from reading books, to library books, to atlases, poems, cook books or even menus, here are a few questions to help you get the most out of your child's understanding of the writing they are reading.

There are obviously lots of other questions you can ask as well according to what genre of text they are reading.

Here is a little more about the reading workshop to support the learning.

On Tuesday 3rd October we had a great morning with our 'Fun Phonics' PACT session. Lots of families joined us to see how phonics is taught in school and how you can help your child at home with their phonics.

We also had a 'phonics games' session to show how children can enjoy using sounds in real and nonsense words.

Afterwards we all enjoyed a trip to our school canteen for FREE drinks, toast and crumpets.

Thanks to everyone who supported their child, we had a great morning and enjoyed seeing so many of you!
