What an exciting term to look forward to in music.
This term, children will be linking their topic of 'Ancient Greece' in music. Their first topic will be called 'Ancient Greece' with a musical exploration of triple time, the pentatonic scale and the leitmotif with focus on rhythm, pitch, timbre and dynamics and structure and form.
Children will then move onto a musical topic called 'Solar System' which focuses on their musical listening skills with a cross-curricular link to PSHE.
We are currently listening to 'The Planets' by Gustav Holst who was an English composer. He wrote this suite between 1914 and 1916. Listen to and watch the videos on this page.

On the 25th of January Manchester Camerata came to visit Year 6. They worked with the whole class to write lyrics to a section of the story from Shakespeare's 'Macbeth'. We then had two weeks to learn the lyrics and then we went to the Stafford Gatehouse to perform our song with lots of other schools. Each school sang to a different section of the play.
We loved it!
