Interactive Whiteboards:
We have interactive
whiteboards in all of our classes including our nursery class.
These IWBs have started to revolutionised the way that teachers in our school deliver
the curriculum. All our IWBs benefit from being linked to broadband that gives high speed
connection
to the Internet.
For those of you who still only remember chalk and a blackboard, an IWB is
like a giant computer screen. The beauty of the IWB is that they are
interactive. Teachers and pupils can use a special pen to write on the
IWB or move objects around the screen. IWBs make learning far more
visual and usually far more interesting. Teachers and pupils can use a
a wide range of resources from the World Wide Web.
IWBs can be used to display pages from the Internet or to show videos or DVDs.
We chose Promethean IWBs
because they are far less likely to be damaged by pupils and the LEA
provides technical back-up. In the Nursery we have a SmartBoard
that can be operated by using your finger rather than a pen.
Our Computer Room:
In our computer room
we have a client/server network with 28 workstations. All workstations
are Internet linked. All year groups from Year 1 upwards are
timetabled to have at least one session per week in the computer room.
As a school we feel that using the computer room is the most efficient way
of teaching basic computer skills.

The picture above and the 2 below show Year 5 pupils working
independently
in our computer room.
