Summer Term

All our learning will centre around the books ’The Egg’ and ’The Knight and the dragon’ where we will cover the following genres:

· Fantasy stories

· Instructions

· Poetry

Throughout this we will cover specific sentence types and grammar to develop our children’s knowledge of writing.

 

Spring Term

 

 

During Spring term our learning will centered around the books ‘Billy's Bucket' and 'The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch' where we will cover the following genres:

· Narrative retell

· Book review

· Instructions

· Diary of a seagull

 

Throughout this we will cover specific sentence types and grammar to develop the children’s knowledge of writing.

 

As always we will continue to learn about writing skills, spelling rules, grammar and punctuation.

Autumn Term

All our learning will centred around the book ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’, ‘Dogger’ and ‘Tango makes Three’ where we will cover the following genres:

· Narrative description and retell

· Invitation writing

· Instructions

· Poetry

· Non-chronological report

Throughout this we will cover specific sentence types and grammar to develop the children’s knowledge of writing.

 

As always we will continue to learn about writing skills, spelling rules, grammar and punctuation.

The children have had a fantastic Spring term in Year 1! They have all worked very hard and we are incredibly proud of them! 

They have enjoyed making lighthouses for our book 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch' and making circuits to make their light on their lighthouse work.

We have had a fantastic first term in Year 1. The children have settled in really well and risen to the challenges of Year 1. We are all very proud of them!

 

We have done lot's of exciting things in English, including having a visit from a Tiger and exploring ice!!
