Digital Literacy & Word processing
learn how to type with two hands, use the shift, space and enter key properly, and edit work by using the backspace, delete and arrow keys. Children will then go on to learn how to use undo and redo and to select and format text.
Principles of coding, using the age-appropriate ScratchJr software with basic understanding of algorithms and how to create precise instructions for visual working programs.
Digital Literacy: Paint
Children will use a simple painting program to paint with different colours and brushes, create shapes, fill areas, undo and redo and add text.
During this term the children will be learning how to stay safe with technology.
We are looking at the digital 5 a day and discuss how technology can be useful in daily life if used effectively by remembering the 5 key factors -

5. Be mindful
Ask your child over the next few weeks to share with you the digital 5 a day.
E - Safety
During Autumn Term the children will also be learning about the dangers of being online. We understand that technology is a huge part of the children's lives, however if they are to be using it in school and at home we need to ensure their safety.
The children will be creating E-safety posters and have a better understanding into safety issues when online. They will be looking at:
How to use technology safely
Online chat room danger/Games online (Social Media)
Using search engines safely
Identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.

We would strongly recommend that you change your settings online to ensure that no inappropriate content can be accessed by your child.
During Autumn the children will be learning about how to understand digital literacy. They will be looking at:
How to use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content
Switching a computer on/off & Logging on/off
Printing, Copy and pasting images/saving images & resizing images.
